Mindy Henderson is a Motivational Speaker, Writer, Coach, Host of “The Truth About Things That Suck” podcast, guest contributor of “Morning Motivations” on CBS Austin’s “We Are Austin” lifestyle morning show, and was just named an “Austin Woman to Watch” in the May issue of Austin Woman Magazine’s annual “Women to Watch” issue.


After a 20-year career in high-tech, Mindy shifted her focus toward helping others realize their potential and normalizing disability. Driven to build a world that welcomes and includes EVERYONE, Mindy advocates for universal design in air travel, architecture and fashion. 


Her upcoming book, also titled The Truth About Things That Suck, examines those universal things in life that “suck” for ALL of us, intertwining a variety of Mindy’s own personal stories of learning to travel hard roads, lessons she learned along the way and how you can apply those lessons to your own life.


Mindy helps others see how to live more productively and positively. Her mission is to inspire people to understand that when they take responsibility, stop making excuses and OWN their adversity, they become stronger people and true potential is revealed.

Mindy’s mission is to move and inspire people to realize that when they take responsibility and OWN their adversity, they become better, stronger people and their potential is revealed. Mindy helps people see how to live more productively and positively, to roll with the punches, to stop making excuses and instead, to see all they are capable of. 


Living life from a wheelchair, the challenges she has overcome cultivated in her the very skills needed to achieve almost every goal she has ever attempted. Her life experiences now make her uniquely qualified to motivate others. 

Despite living life from a wheelchair, on her list of credits are:   

  • Bachelors and Masters degrees         
  • Recently signed a book contract with a publisher and is writing her debut book, “The Truth About Things That Suck"
  • A 20-year career in software, leading global teams of highly skilled professionals          
  • Multiple singing appearances on national television
  • A CD recorded with George Strait’s guitar and bass players accompanying her           
  • A long list of public speaking credits, addressing thousands of volunteers of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), MDA staff and corporate executives for companies such as 7-11, VMware, NXP Semiconductors, 7-Up and Cisco. 
  • A one-on-one battle fought and won, and a successful trip to one of the least wheelchair accessible countries on the planet to adopt her daughter.         
  • A passion for making the impossible, possible.
